“Brightly-coloured characters who all get their fair share of the spotlight, this could be a lot of fun.”
Age Before Beauty tells the story of a dysfunctional family torn apart by an affair, an exploration of youth versus age set within a family-run beauty salon.
The 6-part series was created for the BBC by BAFTA-nominated writer Debbie Horsfield, directed by Emmy-winner Paul Norton Walker, and spanned musical numbers, comedy, fairytale and drama, for “a complex but expertly constructed tale”, as The Daily Mail described it.
The cast of famous faces, including Sue Johnston, James Murray, Polly Walker, Robson Green, and Lisa Riley, produced what The Radio Times called an “exciting and thought provoking family saga [...] also enormous fun.”
